Andrew spent 20 years in corporate refining strategies for business and retail optimization. However, he found his greatest fulfilment in the 5 years being involved in raising money and awareness for various charities by testing his physicality in various challenges. All these worlds collided when a company restructure left Andrew unemployed in 2017. Determined to use it as an opportunity to reimagine a new vision for his life, just 8 days before Andrew’s corporate life ended he had an idea that would tick every box he loved – climb Table Mountain every day for a year. Ken Kamoche was born and raised in Kenya. He moved to the UK to study management at St Catherine’s College, Oxford University, as a Rhodes Scholar, then began a career as a management academic. He has taught in the UK, Portugal, Thailand, Kenya and Hong Kong. It was during his years in Hong Kong that he honed his writing skills, and published several short stories in magazines such as New York Stories, Ambit, Kunapipi, Wasafiri and in several edited works. Some of these stories later appeared in A Fragile Hope, a collection which made the Commonwealth Best First Book Award shortlist. One of the stories later became Black Ghosts, a novel about Africans in Asia.
Ken Kamoche is a Professor of Management at The University of Nottingham. He is also a writer of fiction.
